Pumpkins $4
Big Max: A gigantic pumpkin variety bearing fruits that can weight up to 100 pounds! Fruits are rounded, fairly uniform and contain meaty flesh that is wonderful for pies. The largest fruits grow best when vines are thinned.
Cinderella: Cinderella pumpkins are medium to large in size, averaging 30-38 centimeters in diameter and weighing 15-35 pounds, and are round in shape with a flattened blossom and stem end. The deeply-ribbed or lobed rind matures from yellow to a bright red-orange and is smooth with a rough, light brown stem. The skin is thick, dense, and rich orange, encasing a central cavity with pulp and flat, cream-colored seeds. When cooked, Cinderella pumpkins are creamy and moist with a mild and slightly sweet flavor.
Chiriman: Chirimen is a traditional kabocha squash, dento yasai, of Japan. This tasty variety of Japanese pumpkin forms a flat globe with distinct ribs and warts that can reach 8" in diameter. The dark green skin matures to a buff color. Creamy yellow, moist thick flesh has a sweet and nutty flavor
Dills Giant: One of the largest varieties of pumpkin in the world, seeds from this and related strains are commonly used in pumpkin weigh-off contests. Fruits regularly grow to 50-100 pounds, and under proper conditions can weigh up to several hundred pounds! For large fruits, grow just one or two per vine.
Futtsu: A rare and strange Japanese pumpkin with heavily warted, dark green-black fruits. Great for storing, upon which fruits acquire a powdery appearance. Left to fully mature, fruits ripen to a pretty orange-brown. Bright orange flesh with a firm texture and a nutty flavor. Exotic and uncommon.
Jarrahdale: A popular variety in Australia, the Jarrahdale bears flattened pumpkin-squash fruits that ripen with a blue-gray skin. Fruits are ribbed, ornamental, but also have very good flavored flesh that can be cooked or used much like a standard pumpkin.
Lady Godiva (shell-less seeds): A "naked" seed pumpkin having seeds lacking the typical hard outer shell. The seeds are ready to eat directly from the fruit or can be roasted for a delicious snack. The fruits grow to a few pounds, with an orange rind overlaid in green streaks. Fruits can be used like any standard pumpkin.
Kabocha : is an Asian variety of winter squash / pumpkin that's become increasingly common sight in American supermarkets and farmer's markets. And it's no wonder. It's way sweeter than butternut squash, with a firmer, less watery flesh. ... And unlike butternut, kabocha squash even has a deliciously edible rind once it's cooked.
Winter Luxury: A wonderful pumpkin with silky orange skin. Popular and delicious for pie making, but also makes a unique ornamental. Fruits usually grow to 5-7 pounds. Vigorous vines.
Winter Squash $4
Delicata: squash is a variety of winter squash with cream-coloured cylindrical fruits striped in green or orange that are cooked. As its name suggests, it has characteristically a delicate rind. It is also known as peanut squash, Bohemian squash, or sweet potato squash.
Habbard Green: The plant produces good yields of 10 to 15 lb deep green-skinned squash. It has a very sweet orange-yellow thick flesh. Perfect for baking and making pies. Keeps well into spring, can be stored successfully for months.
Trombone: Can produce two distinct shapes, but primarily is a huge butternut type averaging 30 to 40 pounds. Fruits tend to be green at harvest and ripen to a pale tan in storage.
